Zentiva is an important long-term sponsor of cultural events Zentiva’s long-standing sponsorship of the Prague Autumn International Music Fest ival forms a major part of the company's sponsoring activities. Over a very short time, the festival has earned a formidable reputation both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Aside from supporting musical events in Prague – such as the “Festival of Music”, a series of concerts given at the St. Agnes Cloister, and the “Prague Musical Evenings” held in the Spanish Synagogue – we organize and support concerts in some of the most beautiful and historic Czech towns as part of the “Pontes“ Music Festival and the “Bridges Between Cities“ series. We helped in the restoration of three works of the utmost national and international significance: the scores of Bedrich Smetana’s symphonic poems Má vlast (“My Country”) and his opera The Bartered Bride, and of Antonín Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor (“From the New World”). The rescue project funded by UNESCO was temporarily halted three years ago due to budget constraints, but was able to restart with our help. Since 2005 Zentiva has been cooperating with one of the most popular film festivals - Febiofest. Febiofest, an international festival of films, television and video, is held in Prague and other cities in Bohemia (Brno, Ostrava, Liberec and Pardubice) and Bratislava and other Slovakian cities. Zentiva regularly hosts exhibitions by leading artists at its business centre in Dolní Měcholupy in Prague. These events are linked with receptions attended by valued clients and business partners, as well as leading scientists, officials and artists. The Prague Autumn Foundation established by Zentiva acquired a precious collection of 18 of Dvořák’s previously unpublished letters and published these in 2000. We endorsed the public fundraising efforts to finance the vital repairs to Charles Bridge initiated by the Prague Town Hall. Zentiva has also provided significant aid in other important projects such as the restoration of the house where Gustav Mahler was born, in the town of Kalište u Humpolce. This valuable historical site has been visited by many of the composer’s admirers from around the world. We are currently funding the ongoing refurbishment of the unique Baroque theatre in Český Krumlov Castle. Zentiva has expanded its sponsoring activities to include supporting the development of the art collections kept at Prague Castle. The company recently purchased the sculpture Velká symfonie (“Grand Symphony”) by Jiří Mařatka, a student and associate of August Rodin’s, and donated it to the collection. Finally, Zentiva encourages young people to visit the events it sponsors by offering a series of awareness-raising concerts for children, entitled “Walks through the Music of the Millennium”.
